Award at the National Workshop on Total Unity for Livelihood, Innovation and Production (TULIP)

Award Tulip With a view to accelerate rural development and strengthen grass root level governance, the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India organized a workshop on Total Unity for Livelihood, Innovation and Production (TULIP) on the 28 – 29 October, 2010 at NIRD Hyderabad. TULIP is a campaign under which the Lab to Land initiative of the Ministry will be implemented. Under Lab to Land initiative, one Block in each State is to be identified for integrating efforts to achieve 100% delivery of Rural Sector Programmes. In Meghalaya, the Umsnsing Block has been selected. The State Institute of Rural Development, Meghalaya, the nodal agency for implementation of the project, has to coordinate with the District Administration of Ri Bhoi, the concerned Block and Line Departments to achieve this objective.

During the Workshop presentations were made on the approaches to be adopted by each State and Region. Region wise groups were formed into North, East, South, West and North East to make the presentations. The North East group agreed on the approaches prepared by Meghalaya and the presentation was made by Shri. Banteilang S. Rumnong, Senior Faculty Member, SIRD, Meghalaya. The presentation was adjudged the best based on the approaches to be adopted and an Award was conferred in this regard. The other participants from Meghalaya included Smti. I. R. Sangma O.S.D, C & RD, Smti. A. L. Mawlong, P.D, DRDA, Rib hoi and Shri P. khonglah, BDO, Umsning C &RD Block.
